The Early Years

Joanne A. Rubino was born in Ithaca, New York, the picturesque Finger Lakes region. Her interest in Art began with visits to some of the premier art museums in New York City and Chicago.

Joanne's art education began with undergraduate studies in Massachusetts and Vermont. She also studied French and had many opportunities to travel to Canada to see art in Quebec and Toronto.

In 1979, Joanne spent her Junior Year Abroad at the University of Dijon, France with an emphasis in French Renaissance and Baroque Art. During this time Joanne enjoyed visiting Museums and Galleries in Paris and Dijon.

By the early 1980's, Joanne was a member of the Southern Vermont Art Association in Manchester, Vermont.

In 1987, Joanne moved to Lander, Wyoming. There she continued to work in her studio. Eventually, she went on to receive a Master's Degree in Art History at the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1993.

While putting together an extensive portfolio of paintings, Joanne taught art and art history at several Universities and Colleges in both Wyoming and Colorado.

Joanne works in predominately oil paintings. Her Modern style produces colorful landscapes, classical nudes, and folk art still-life. She embraces the unique traditions of some of the finest of American and European Modern artists.
Joanne owns and operates a small gallery, Canyon Steet Gallery, in Lander, Wyoming.
